The Stilin Family's Full Brick Home
Built To Last More Than A Lifetime

In this day and age of housing sustainability issues and the aesthetic expectations of clients, full brick homes are gaining popularity.

When the Stilin family moved from Eastwood to the upper North Shore, they decided to build an open plan home large enough to accommodate their growing family - Isabella, 14, Hanna, 12 and Konrad, 10.

They chose Krslovic Homes as their builder after a visit to the HomeWorld Display Village, and were pleasantly surprised that the builder could meet their expectations.

The Stilin family knocked down an old home to build their new home, a popular option in established suburbs where land is scarce.

Harry and his wife Rosie decided to build a full brick home because of the "sound proofing and structural stability", however Harry explained that there is much more to their decision.

"A full brick home reminds me of the days when houses were built not just for your lifetime, but for the grandkids as well. While we may have paid a premium price for our choice, a well-built full brick home is something you can leave for your children's future!

"We couldn't be happier with our decision to build in full brick. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to our friends and family," added Harry.

Harry is absolutely right. A well-designed full brick home is a unique investment - the more it grows in value, so does your personal wealth.

Of course, when you build a full brick home selling it will be the furthest thing from your mind. But you don't have to sell to reap the rewards from your financial investment.

When built in accordance with passive design principles, full bricks' thermal mass means the family energy bills will be lower because less use of a heater or air-conditioner is needed to maintain a comfortable ambient temperature.

A natural brick façade will save you thousands of dollars repainting or rendering the home every ten years. That means more money in your pocket and more time relaxing.

You could even put the money you save on energy/gas bills and maintenance costs into mortgage repayments - increasing the equity in the family home.

And, when you do sell a full brick home - Rowen Kelly, immediate past president of the Real Estate Institute of NSW, believes there is no question that a full brick home is more marketable to homebuyers than a brick veneer home of comparable quality in a similar location.
