Recent research conducted by the University of Newcastle has shown living in a full brick home has many more benefits than first thought
However, the discovery of these “newly found” benefits came as no surprise to the Videka family – who live in a full brick, two-storey, five bedroom home in the Sydney suburb of Riverwood. Mato and wife Elke share the home with his mother-in-law, Mashia, and ANZAC the faithful family dog.
Mato had not lived in a full brick home prior to building one, so rather than basing his decision on his own experience, Mato let the research – and the results – speak for themselves. “I did lots of research and listened to what people had to say about full brick homes.I came to the conclusion that a full brick home is structurally stronger, not to mention warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
“Additionally, many people in my family are involved in the building industry – and they all say full brick is best,” explained Mato. The Videkas had no difficulty in finding a builder who would build in full brick, choosing to build with Full Brick Designer Homes.
Externally Mato & Elke utilised Austral Bricks South Pacific Coral Sea face bricks – providing their home with a contemporary appeal and soft, pastel colour. And because they are not rendered, they will require minimal maintenance, and definitely no repainting, unlike other alternatives.
While noise is not a major factor in the Videka’s street, Mato said “Even though the street is a quiet one, I am sure the full brick construction does block out external noise. The home is always so quite.”The Videkas couldn’t be happier with their decision to build a full brick home, and would confidently recommend it to family and friends.
When asked what he felt was the defining benefit of a full brick home, Mato simply said “The strength, the home feels solid!”
